To remember “Reading makes a full man.”
2學(xué)情分析
Analysis of the teaching content and the students: The lesson mainly serves as an introduction for unit 1 of Module 9, Students’ Book 2. In module7&8 students have already learnt past tense, so it may not that difficult for them to understand. This lesson, students will learn the past tense forms of irregular verbs and talk about simple life history of Lu Xun.
3重點(diǎn)難點(diǎn)
To say the twelve months correctly;
To use the two listening tips to finish the tasks;
To know how to describe a famous person, using past tense with irregular verbs.

4.1第一學(xué)時(shí)
4.1.1教學(xué)過(guò)程
Teaching procedures:
Step1 Lead-in& Pre-listening (vocabulary learning)
Students ask Julie some questions to learn something about Julie. (to motivate)
When students ask questions about “28”, the teacher tells them” I was 28 years old last year.”, then students should say how old they were last year. (to lead the students to use irregular verb “be”)
When students ask questions about”05-1987”, the teacher tells them “I was born in May, 1987.”, and also tells that Mother’s Day is in May. Then tell the students how to say the twelve months, and play a game to consolidate. Students say when they were born and whether there is a festival in that month and what it is.(to learn how to say the twelve months in a year and use them to describe date of birth, then recall some names of festivals )
When students ask question about “1835”, the teacher gives them tips to guess. Then introduce the book and lead in the writer, students will also watch a micro course which is made by Julie about Mark Twain.. (to lead in today’s topic)
Step2: While-listening & Grammar focus
Listen to the recording for the first time, and do the exercise on the worksheet.
(to get a picture of “Mark Twain”)
Listen to the recording for the second time, and answer some questions on the worksheet. (to know more about “Mark Twain”, and pay attention to “did”)
Work in pairs to check the answers, and then check the answers with the teacher.
The teacher leads the students to find out the answers and some past tense of irregular verbs, and then learn how to change an irregular verb into its past form. (language input)
Step3 Post-listening
Play a game “Eye-to-eye” to check whether they know how to use the irregular verbs form on page120.
Watch the video of the text and conclude how to write about a writer.
Step4 Writing and speaking
Julie shows students the information about Lu Xun, and students should use past tense to write a short passage about him, the teacher walks around to offer help.
Ask individual students to read their passages. (language output)
Summary&Homework: To summary and assign homework.
