Teaching aims and learning objectives  
1、 Enable the students to grasp the main idea of the story time。 
2、 Enable the students to know the following words: large, sharp, strong, weak, bit, woke，as well as grasp the functions of adjectives such as quietly, loudly, sadly和happily. 
3、 Enable the students to understand the implied meaning of the story from different perspectives.

Teaching procedures  Step 1 Greeting & Lead-in 1. Greeting 
Say about date, day, favourite animals 2. Lead-in 
T: Listen and guess what animal it is? 
The name of the story is The lion and the mouse.  
Before the story, I want you to be one of them and try to say something.  
Step 2 Presentation 1. Prediction 
T: Yes. As you all know, the lion and the mouse are very different, aren’t they? What if they met each other one day? Can you guess? T: Let’s watch a cartoon and see what happens.   
2. Read the story picture by picture 
T: Now we’ve got the outline of this story. Let’s listen and read this story picture by picture. Please listen and try to follow what you hear. ① Picture 1 (teach large, strong） 
T: The lion is so large and strong. So how do all the animals feel about the lion? ② Picture 2（teach walked by, woke…up, said quietly, laughed loudly） T: Who can read what the mouse/lion said?   How did the mouse /lion say it? 
 
                  
                  
                           
                                     ③ Picture 3 （teach caught…with…, bit…with…, asked sadly） T: The lion has very sharp teeth, why didn’t that help? T: What might the lion think at this moment? 
④ Picture 4 （teach made a big hole, said happily） 
T: Suppose the little mouse asked the lion…（PPT出示）What do you think the lion might say? 
⑤ Picture 5 （ teach became friends） 
T: Do you think the lion will laugh at all the other small and weak animals from then on?  
3. Ask and answer 
T: Now we’ve got every details of this story. Let me ask you some questions and please answer me quickly.  
T: These are the 5 questions on your book. But I want you to ask and answer more. Now you can read the story again and prepare some questions?  
Step 3 Consolidation

T: What does this story tell us?
