  (1)What are you going to do next year?--I’m going to...   (2)How are you going to do that?--I’m going to...   (3)Sounds interesting/ like a good plan. 
3. Ss learn to talk about their New Year’s resolutions. 4. Ss practice listening in class. 
Attitude & Values 
Ss learn the importance to make a plan at the beginning of the year. Work hard to make their dreams come true.

1. Ss ask and answer about their New Year’s resolutions. 2. Ss finish the listening in 1c and 1d. Teaching difficult points:

1. T: The New Year is coming. I’m going to learn a foreign language, such as French. That’s my new year’s resolution. I also have three other resolutions for new year. Can you guess? 
  
1. Ss ask the teacher about the resolutions by using “ Are you going to… ?”

2. T: These are my friend’s Bob’s resolutions.  
(T shows the pictures and the resolutions of Bob next year.)

T: Lucy, Kim and Mike are talking about their resolution next year. What they are going to do next year? 2. Listen to 1d 
T: How are they going to make the resolutions come true?  
  
1. Ss listen to 1c and choose. 2. Ss listen to 1d and fill in the blank. 
3. Ss read after the tape. 
4. Ss talk about the resolutions of these 3 persons.

Step 4 Pairwork Qs:

T: Now write down your resolutions. First complete the first two paragraphs with the words in the box. (3a)
