I. Teaching objectives 
After this lesson, 80%-90% of the students will be able to A. Knowledge objectives 
1. Read and spell some useful words such as ship, knife, gun, island, mark 2. Learn to master some useful expression like  I named him Friday  
        I found the marks on the sand

 Give a rough introduction about this article 
 Use some reading skills while learning: skimming, scanning, predicting.  
 C. Emotion objectives 
1. Foster some qualities like: persistence, tenacity and bear them in mind. 2. Become brave and independent in their future lives.

Step 2. Guessing. 
Ask students to look through the passage and find the following new words and guess their meanings by reading the sentences. You can use these to shoot things.________ Something you use to travel in the sea._______ A person who eats human flesh or animals._____ You can use these to cut things._______

Step 3. While-reading 
1. Fast reading.  
(1) Skimming: Ask students to skim the passage to get the general idea and give them some reading tips as well.Then, let them choose the correct main idea of each paragraph. 
Read and listen to the passage quickly and tell us the main idea  of  Paragraph 1. 
    A. The condition of Robinson’s life on the island. 
    B. Robinson had nothing when he first arrived on the island.     C. Robinson learnt to grow fruit and vegetables.     D. Robinson built a house on the island.

A. Robinson found some marks. 
B. Robinson tried to kill the two man.

(設(shè)計(jì)意圖：快速閱讀把閱讀課文作為整體來處理，掌握主旨大意，這一任務(wù)過程中為了降低難度,設(shè)置一個(gè)有關(guān)主旨大意的一般疑問句，學(xué)生比較容易接受與完成。)

2. Detail reading 
Task1:  Have students re-read paragraph completely then correct the sentences. 
1. Robinson Crusoe arrived on the island with enough food and drink. 2. Friday made a small boat. 
3. Robinson Crusoe had some food and tools when he first arrived on the island. 
4. Robinson used the ship to build his house. 
5. Friday saw some marks of another man’s feet on the beach. 6. Robinson tried to kill the two men.  
(設(shè)計(jì)意圖：學(xué)生通過再次仔細(xì)閱讀課文，配以補(bǔ)全課文的練習(xí)，由點(diǎn)及面，達(dá)到對(duì)課文的段落方面的把握。) 
  
Task 2: Translate the sentences into English.  
1.雖然我失去了一切，但是沒有失去生命。  2. 因此我將不會(huì)放棄并等待另一艘船。

Step 4. Practice 
Retell:  
When I first arrived ... I had nothing. But I’ve found ... and made  ... I’ve brought back...—— food and drink, tools, knives and guns. Although I have lost everything, I have not lost my life. So I will not give up and I will wait for...  I’m even learning to grow...
