Step 1. Free talking  
Show some pictures and let students talk about what can make they feel happy or unhappy which refers to the topic . At the same time, enable students to review the usage of “make”. Step 2. Revision  
1. Lead the students to review the story of The Shirt of a Happy Man (part 1) by using the key clues - when ,where, what ,who ... Students can retell the story together according to these clues.  2. Let one group of students to present and act the story (part I )to show it directly and arouse interest in students’ literature acting.   3. Let students complete the form of the story (Part 1) to deepen the impression of its key points. After finishing the form ,ask students “Are you interested in the ending of the story ? Now today we’ll learn the happy man’s shirt (Part II )”    Step 3. Presentation - Let’s fly our imagination. 
1. Look at the possible endings to the story about the unhappy king. Do you think any of these is the right one? If so, which one?(Let students read them aloud and understand them ) 
 A. The general cannot find a happy person and the king remains unhappy forever.  
B.  The general finds a happy person with power and money.  
T : What can make you feel happy or unhappy ? 
S1 : Playing with friends can make me  feel happy . 
S2 : Earning much money will make me feel happy. 
S3 : Failing in the exam can make me feel unhappy. S4 :.... 
  
T: What are some other possible endings to the story? Discuss your ideas with your group.

C. The general realizes he is a happy person and gives his shirt to the king to wear.  
D. The king suddenly becomes happy without the shirt of a happy person.  If you don’t agree, what are some other possible endings to the story?  
2. What are some possible endings to the story ?(Give students 2 minutes to talk about different endings to the story in groups to guess or make up the endings of the story. Then find a leader to make a report about their choices.) 3. Pre--listening.   
Work on 1c. Show students the picture of the story (Part II) and let them guess the characters and the content they talked about .  ① Who are the two people?  ② Where are they? 
③ What do you think they’re talking about? Step 4 Listening  
1. Listen and put the sentences in the right order. A. I heard you singing just now. 
B.  I have everything I want, and I don’t want what I can’t have. C. Two days passed. 
D.  He was eating with his hands and singing happily. E. Just as he was about to give up. 
2. Listen carefully and answer the questions. 
Before reading ,the teacher let students read the questions together and find out the key words which they should pay attention to while listening . 
1)  How long did it take the general to find the happy man?  2) What was the poor man doing on the street?  
3) What made the poor man so happy even though he had no power, money or fame?  
4) Do you think the general will return to the king with the poor man’s shirt? Why or why not?  
3. Listen for the third time, then complete the conversation. (Each blank may have more than one word  ) 
The general searched and searched but couldn’t find anyone. _____________ everyone had their own problems, and no one was _____ happy. Two days passed. Just as he _________ ________, he saw a _________ on the street. He was eating with his hands and ______________ _________. The general went up to him. General: Hello! I’m the ______ top general. Man: Hi, General. What can I do for you today? 
General: I _______________ just now, and you ______ very happy. 
Man: That’s because I am happy. 
General: But I don’t understand. ______ _________ so happy? You have no ______, ______ or _____. 
Group1 : The general found a poor man. The man was very happy.The poor man gave his shirt to the King .The King was brought to the outer world and became happy . At last , he gave the kingship to the poor man . 
Group 2 : The poor man told the King the secret to happiness is to help others.Finally, the King began to help others and  became happy .  
Group 3 : The general found the happy man and took him to the King .But they thought the king was too foolish to be the King , so at last they killed the King and chose another wise King. Group 4 :...

1. Let students work in groups and create the ending of the story The Shirt of a Happy Man (Part II). 
2. Choose 2-3 groups to show their funny or sad or perfect or subversive (顛覆性的）ending. Step 6 Discussion  
1. What are your opinions about happiness ? The teacher show some sayings about happiness.  
Happiness is in your mind.  
Happiness depends on yourselves Happiness is more valuable than gold. 
2. Show a cartoon video about happiness from our daily lives. Step 7 Homework 
1. Design your own shirt of happiness.

課后反思
 優點： 
1,通過讓學生上臺表演話劇復習Section A 內容，既復習了舊知識又鍛煉了口語還培養了表演興趣。 
2，通過聽前預測，聽中排序，回答問題，聽后復述完成練習，學生對故事來龍去脈了解透徹，為他們接下來表演話劇打下語言基礎。 
3，學生在最后根據聽力改編完成故事結尾，學生的想象力及語言表達能力超出老師預期。 不足： 
1， 最后原計劃讓學生根據所看視頻畫出自己所在小組對快樂定義的襯衫時，由于時間有限沒能上課完成，只能留為家庭作業。 
2， 板書設計環節在最后總結時應再次進行鞏固。
