Unit 3 Our Hobbies
Topic 1 What’s your hobby? Section A 教學設計
Teaching aims:
1.學習用enjoy, like, love, prefer, be fond of, 和be interested in 表達自己的興趣和愛好。 2. 學習有關興趣和愛好的短語，詞句。 Teaching important points:
1. Learn the new words: hobby愛好，興趣, collect收集, recite背誦, poem詩歌, fond喜愛的，喜歡的, plant 種植, pet寵物, maybe 也許，可能 .
2. Learn the new phrases: be interested in對……感興趣, be fond of 喜歡, collect stamps收集郵票, recite poems背誦詩歌, plant flowers 種花, walk a pet dog 遛狗.
3. Use the phrases “like/enjoy/love/prefer/be interested in/ be fond of doing….”to express the hobbies. Teaching difficult points:
1. 流利運用新的表示喜愛的短語：be interested in 和 be fond of doing….
2. 掌握并運用詢問興趣愛好的句型：
----- What’s your hobby?
-----I like/ love/ enjoy/ prefer/ am interested in / am fond of doing….

Teaching procedure:
Stage 1 Review, Lead-in and Learn
Step1 Review the outdoor activities and the indoor activities. And review the phrases “ like / love / enjoy / prefer doing...”. And then the teacher leads in a new word “ hobby愛好，興趣”. At the same time, let the students learn the sentence patterns “ ---- What’s your hobby?你的興趣/愛好是什么? ---- I like/ enjoy / prefer/ love doing… 我喜歡做…… ”. T: Who am I ? I am an active woman. I like outdoor activity. I like playing ping-pong. It’s my hobby. I also like indoor activity. I like cooking in my kitchen. Playing ping-pong and cooking are my hobbies.
T: hobby---- a hobby----- hobbies (把字母y改成字母i，由單數變成復數形式。)
Step2 Task: Free Talk. The teacher shows “ Free talk, What’s your favorite outdoor activity and indoor activity?/ What’s your hobby? 你的愛好/興趣是什么？ at the same time. Finally, the teacher shows the key topic “ What’s your hobby?”.
T: What’s your favorite outdoor activity and indoor activity?/ What’s your hobby? 你的愛好/興趣是什么？
Ss: I like/enjoy/love/prefer playing pin-pong and

cooking.
S1: ----What’s your hobby?
S2: ---- I like doing…. What’s your hobby? S2: ---- I enjoy doing…. S1: ----What’s your hobby? …
Stage 2 Pre- listening
Step 1 The teacher shows a sentence “ Playing basketball is interesting”, and a picture of a basketball on the screen to teach the phrase “be interested in對……感興趣”. And then let the students go on to learn the phrase “be fond of ”. At last, the teacher shows the words “ like/ enjoy/ love / prefer” to make the students guess the meaning of the phase “ be fond of 喜歡”.
T: Playing basketball is interesting. I am interested in對……
感興趣 playing basketball. I am fond of playing basketball.
I can also say “I like/enjoy/love/prefer playing basketball. Guess, what’s the meaning of “ am interested in” and “ in am fond of”? Ss: “喜歡”.
Step2 Finish the task “ Exercises in class” to practice the phrases “be interested in” and “be fond of ”.
Step3 Give the students some minutes to list the key points

we learned above.
1. Key phrases: like / enjoy / love / prefer / be interested in / be fond of doing …. 2. Key sentence patterns: ------ What’s your hobby?
------ I like/ enjoy/ love / prefer / am interested in /am fond of doing ….
Step4 Pair work. Give the whole class more moments to prepare for pair work to practice the sentence patterns “------ What’s your hobby?
------ I like/ enjoy/ love / prefer / am interested in /am fond of doing ….”.
Step5 Task: Talk and Learn. The key topic “ Different people have different hobbies”.
First, the teacher shows the pictures of “Yao Ming , collecting stamps, a monkey and Li Bai and his poems,” and the phrase “ be interested in” is under the pictures. The teacher teaches the new words “ collect收集, recite背誦, poem詩歌” with the sentence patterns “ ---- What’s his hobby? ------ He is interested in ______________.”
S1: He is interested in playing basketball. S2: He is interested in collecting stamps.

S3: He is interested in acting. S4: He is interested in reciting poems.
Second, the teacher teaches the another two new words “ plant 種植” and “ pet寵物” . The teacher shows the pictures of “a woman walking with a dog and a woman planting flowers” and the phrase “ be fond of ” is under the pictures. Using the sentence patterns “ ---- What’s her hobby? ---- She is fond of ______________.” to learn these two new words.
S1: She is fond of planting flowers. S2: She is fond of walking a pet dog.
Finally, have a summary. Let the whole class read the 7 new words and the 6 phrases aloud. The 7 new words are “hobby愛好，興趣, collect收集, recite背誦, poem詩歌, fond喜愛的，喜歡的, plant 種植, pet寵物”. The 6 phrases are “be interested in對……感興趣, be fond of 喜歡, collect stamps收集郵票, recite poems背誦詩歌, plant flowers 種花, walk a pet dog 遛狗”.
Stage 3 While- listening ( Section A － 1a / 1b /1c ) Step1 Task 1b. Fast listening. The teacher question the students what Helen and Wen Wei are talking about. Then let the whole class listen to 1a. And finish 1b at P55.
Step2 Task 1a. The whole class read 1a aloud together.

Step3 Task: Language notes. Give the students more minutes to read and understand 1a. And the teacher encourages the students to try their best to understand the following words, phrases and sentences “ it, Why not? do some outdoor activities, Sounds good. maybe, need a change”. Step4 Task 1c. Listen to 1a again. Write H for Helen’s hobbies and W for Wen Wei’s. Then write the phrase for each picture. After listening and finish 1c, the teacher asks one student to tell the whole class the answers. At last, the teacher shows the answers on the screen to let the students correct the answers.
Stage 4 Post - listening ( Section A 1d , 2, 3a )
Step1 Task 1d. Read 1a and fill in the blanks. The teacher gives the whole class more moments to finish 1d. After that, let the students tell us the answers. Check the answers together. Step2 Pair work. Give the students some minutes to be ready for acting 1a out in pairs. And then ask some pairs of students to come to the front to play roles of 1a.
Step3 Make a similar dialog following 1a. Let some pairs of students to come to the front to act out their dialogs. Step4 Task: Key points of 1a. The teacher lists the key points of 1a on the screen. Let the whole class read them aloud.

The five key points are “in one’s free time在某人的空閑時間, enjoy等表示喜愛的短語 enjoy/love doing sth. 喜歡做某事, Why not do sth.? 為什么不做某事？ do some outdoor activities 做些戶外活動 Sounds good. 聽起來不錯。 Step5 Task2. Look at the pictures. Then listen and complete the sentences.
First Listen to 2.
Second After listening, check the answers. The teacher asks one student to tell us the correct answers.
Third Collect the phrases of expressions of hobbies. The teacher gives some minutes to collect the phrases of
expressions of hobbies. After that, the teacher asks one student to write the correct answers on the blackboard.
Finally Let the whole class read these phrases aloud together.
Step6 Task3a. Match the pictures with the phrases. Then listen to the sentences and number the pictures.
First Listen to 3a.
Second After listening, the teacher lets one student say out the correct answers.
Finally The teacher shows the correct answers on the screen.
