Section B(1a-1d) 
Teaching aims 
1.Knowledge aims: 
  Students can use the expression words to describe animals simply.    Students can say what animals they like and the reason. 
  Students can talk with friends about animals, using what/ where/ why/…. 
  Students can describe their favorite animals. 
  Students can discuss why animals are in danger and what we should do. 
2.Ability aims: 
a. To train the Students’ listening abilities by catching the key words. 
b. To train the Students’ writing abilities of describing the animals. c. To train the students’ speaking abilities by talking about a topic. 3.Value aims: 
Students will know animals are our friends and we should protect them. 
Teaching important and difficult points 1.Students can describe the animals freely.   
2.Students know why animals are in danger and what we should do.

Teaching aids  PPT, pictures

1.Lead in 
1)Greet students and say hello to them. And guide students to watch a video.(Hello, everybody! I went to a zoo yesterday and took a video . Do you want to watch it? Let’s  see together. What can you see in the video? Do you know them and like them?Why do you like them? Today we come to unit5) 
2)Guide students to enjoy the flash.(Boys and girls, apart from pandas, I saw others animals. What are they? Try to watch the flash carefully and remember animals’ names as many as possible and then I’ll invite some of you to voice.) 
Students get the names of animals:tigers, giraffes, lions, rabbits,monkeys, horses,etc. 2.Presentation 
1)Guide students to learn names of animals and the description word. Panda,lion,giraffe,koala,tiger,elephant; cute,small,big,smart,beautiful,scary,lazy,etc. 
(Everybody, let’s play a game and guess what animal it is. And check your memory.Look at the pictures quickly and guess what animals they are.)

2)Guide students to learn the sample sentences:Where are they from? What do you think of them? 3.Listening 1)Pre-listening 
Ask students to do the task.Match the description words with the animals.And check it together. 
Guide students to continue to practice new learning. 
 
2)While-listening 
Ask students to read the description word first .Play the recording and ask students to circle the description words they hear in 1a. Invite students to check the answers. 
Play the recording for second time and ask students to do the listening task.

Play the recording for the third time and guide students to check the answers. 3)Post-listening 
Let students role play the listening materials and answer the questions. Qs: where are Tony and Mary? What do they want to do? 4.Speaking 
Guide students to talk about the animals they know with their partners based on the former learning.Students can talk about animals in these aspects：where to live,what to eat,age,personality,others. Then ask students to present their speaking. 5.Writing 
After listening and speaking,students need to output their input. Write a description of an animal you like. A sample writing will be given to students.Students learn the sample and begin to write their writing.Lastly,students present their work. 6.Moral learning 
Show some pictures to let students 
know that because of humans’ behavior,may animals are in danger. We

are friends and we should protect them. 7.Summary 
Guide students to summarize what they have learned: 1.We know different kinds of animals. 
2.We learn how to describe animals and express preference. 8.Homework 
Make a survey and write an article. 1. What animals are very rare(稀少)? 2. Where do they live? 3. What can we do for them? Reflection:
