Teaching Aims:
To learn what suffixes are and the uses of suffixes
To learn to add correct suffixes to create nouns To be able to learn new words according to suffixes
To improve understanding of sentences and passages with the help of suffixes Key points and teaching difficulties :
To add correct suffixes to create new words
To understand the meaning of the new words created by suffixes properly
Teaching procedures: Step 1 Lead-in
1. Free talk with the students about their school life, help students to talk about their
feelings using words with suffixes.
2. Revise the use of these suffixes and then present the aims today---to learn three suffixes. [設(shè)計(jì)意圖]
通過(guò)前幾個(gè)單元的學(xué)習(xí),學(xué)生已經(jīng)具備了一定的構(gòu)詞法知識(shí),了解到后綴的添加可以改變單詞的詞義和詞性。通過(guò)導(dǎo)入的設(shè)計(jì),可以激活學(xué)生已有知識(shí),為新課的學(xué)習(xí)做好準(zhǔn)備,同時(shí)也能幫助學(xué)生更明確本課時(shí)的學(xué)習(xí)任務(wù)。 Step 2 Presentation
1. Present the suffix “er” by talking about 2017 Marathon in Nanjing.
2. Talk with the students about the players’ jobs and present more words ending with “er”. 3. Ask the students to observe the spelling of the words and work out proper ways to add
“er” to verbs and nouns.
4. Help the students understand the grammatical function and pragmatic function of the
suffix “er”. [設(shè)計(jì)意圖]
劉道義教授根據(jù)人本主義學(xué)習(xí)理論與實(shí)踐重點(diǎn)研究了學(xué)習(xí)者的學(xué)習(xí)能力的發(fā)展過(guò)程,提出了英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)者的學(xué)習(xí)能力的形成都要經(jīng)歷動(dòng)機(jī)、注意、建構(gòu)等階段。學(xué)生只有運(yùn)用這些學(xué)習(xí)策略主動(dòng)學(xué)習(xí),才能形成學(xué)習(xí)英語(yǔ)的能力,為自主學(xué)習(xí)和可持續(xù)學(xué)習(xí)創(chuàng)造有利條件。 Step 3 Practice and consolidation
1. Ask the students to practise adding the suffix “er” correctly according to the rules they
concluded just now.
2. Help the students understand the meaning of the new words by talking about the
mistakes people make in daily lives and advise students to guess the meaning of the new words according to the context. [設(shè)計(jì)意圖]
學(xué)習(xí)者的學(xué)習(xí)動(dòng)機(jī)能否保持,學(xué)習(xí)者學(xué)習(xí)過(guò)程中的成功體驗(yàn)起著較大的作用。學(xué)習(xí)者如果能夠體驗(yàn)到學(xué)習(xí)的成功,那么其學(xué)習(xí)態(tài)度就會(huì)更加積極,學(xué)習(xí)動(dòng)機(jī)也就能保持下去。在這一步驟中練習(xí)的設(shè)計(jì)就是檢測(cè)學(xué)生通過(guò)剛才的學(xué)習(xí)是否能正確添加詞綴以及對(duì)詞綴的語(yǔ)用意義和語(yǔ)法意義的理解。語(yǔ)言學(xué)習(xí)不僅僅是用于測(cè)試,也可以運(yùn)用于實(shí)際生活中,教師設(shè)計(jì)了生活實(shí)際運(yùn)用的環(huán)節(jié)以幫助學(xué)生體會(huì)到學(xué)習(xí)的實(shí)際意義。在反饋練習(xí)中,教師也幫助學(xué)生確認(rèn)了單詞的語(yǔ)用功能,任何詞都是存在于一定的語(yǔ)境之中,單詞的意義也由此而生。 Step 4 Presentation
1. Present the second suffix—“or” by talking about students’ dream career in the future.
2. Practise the use of “or” by talking about the pictures on the power point. (sailor, actor, director)
3. Present the suffix “ist” and then practise by talking about three famous people. (biologist, humorist, tourist)

本課時(shí)所學(xué)后綴都實(shí)施行為的人的含義,比較多的都是描述人的職業(yè)的單詞。因此,在這一環(huán)節(jié)中,教師秉承了之前的職業(yè)主線(xiàn),讓學(xué)生在語(yǔ)言運(yùn)用中自然地習(xí)得后綴的語(yǔ)法功能和語(yǔ)法意義。 Step 5 Consolidation
1. Add the three suffixes to words correctly.
2. Complete the sentences by adding correct suffixes to the words chosen from the box. 3. Complete the reading comprehension exercises related to the use of suffixes. [設(shè)計(jì)意圖]
本課時(shí)所學(xué)后綴都實(shí)施行為的人的含義,比較多的都是描述人的職業(yè)的單詞。因此,在這一環(huán)節(jié)中,教師秉承了之前的職業(yè)主線(xiàn),讓學(xué)生在語(yǔ)言運(yùn)用中自然地習(xí)得后綴的語(yǔ)法功能和語(yǔ)法意義。 Step 6. Promotion
Help the students to be aware of the importance of suffixes and prefixes by seeing words related to use.
[設(shè)計(jì)意圖]
構(gòu)詞法的學(xué)習(xí)并不是簡(jiǎn)單的學(xué)一個(gè)公式,而是幫助學(xué)生主動(dòng)運(yùn)用學(xué)習(xí)技能學(xué)習(xí)策略,進(jìn)行自主學(xué)習(xí)和延伸性學(xué)習(xí)。這一環(huán)節(jié)的設(shè)計(jì)就是讓學(xué)生能通過(guò)練習(xí),體會(huì)到構(gòu)詞法的美妙之處,從而能自覺(jué)運(yùn)用所學(xué),進(jìn)入深入學(xué)習(xí)。
